Crispin's Bio
A native of Perth, Ontario, Crispin Lipscomb's first passion was skateboarding but a trip to the snow of Jasper, Alberta as a thirteen year old became his life altering moment as it was there he first strapped on a snowboard. Sixteen years later he's one of the best in the business. He's the Canadian National Champion, an Olympian and a multi-World Cup Medalist. Never one to rest on yesterday's accomplishment, Lipscomb is known for constantly pushing the envelope and throwing bigger and more complicated tricks when it matters most - in competition. His 'Backside 1080' was a first-ever at the 2005 Gravity Games (he won) which he followed up with the first Backside 1080 in Olympic competition the following year in Torino, Italy. In April of '06 he went big again, this time with a first-ever 'Frontside 1440' in his hometown of Whistler, BC at the World Ski & Snowboard Festival at which he won both the competition and the coveted 'Crowd Choice Award.' In January of '07 he did it again, this time at the Burton European Open in Switzerland (see photo below), becoming the first Canadian to ever win in Europe.
2010 will bring the Olympic Games to Crispin's backyard where he has set his sights on claiming the top step of the Olympic Podium in front of his hometown crowd.
"I've had great success here in Whistler in the past and I'll certainly be looking to carry the home field advantage into the Olympics. Competing against the best riders in the world, in front of my family, friends and fellow Canadians is something I've been dreaming of since Vancouver won the Olympic bid. I'll be ready!"
